About Us

Nestled in the heart of Victoria’s Premier Wine Region, Leafield’s history stretches back to the early 1900s as part of a 300 acre property called ‘HILLCREST’.  Around 1913 the owners (the Gordon Family) built a 10 room guest house to accommodate the growing interest in the Yarra Valley as a holiday destination. Called Gordon’s Guest Home, most of this building was destroyed in a fire in the early 60’s. The current family home was built to replace the original guest house, the remnants of which were restored to become the charming rustic 2 bedroom cottage now known as “Rose Cottage”.

Hillcrest was divided up over the years with parcels of the land being handed down to the Gordon children.  In the early 1990’s the remaining 10 acre property was renamed Leafield to enable  the “Hillcrest” name to be given back to the Gordon family through a grandson who had purchased a parcel of the original property.

With the addition of Sage and Hanaby Cottages in 1997 Leafield now consists of three self-contained Cottages surrounded by gardens, pastures and natural bush.

We share this beautiful land with an abundance of wild life including Kangaroos. Wallabies, Wombats, King Parrots, Crimson Rosellas and the occasional pair of  Eagles soaring majestically above.
